Vietnam eSIM: comparing Viettel, MobiFone and VinaPhone plans

For a Vietnam trip, start with what you need the phone to do. If you will use maps, bookings and messaging apps, data may be enough. If you need ordinary calls or incoming SMS on a Vietnamese number, look at those features before comparing prices. Two plans with similar data can serve quite different purposes.

The GoWorldeSIM Vietnam catalogue checked on 8 October 2026 contains Viettel Mobile data plans and MobiFone and VinaPhone groups labelled as plans with a phone number. It also includes an Asia-Pacific regional group. The available offers below update from the current catalogue; a network name alone does not tell you every condition.

Choose the function before the network

Our starting recommendation is a country plan for a Vietnam-only holiday. First check the dates, then the data allowance. Choose a number-enabled option when you have a specific reason to use a local number. Paying for bundled calling minutes you will never use adds little value.

Your priority	What to compare
Maps and messaging	Data allowance, validity and activation
A Vietnamese number	Incoming and outgoing calls, SMS and any registration requirement
Several countries	A regional plan covering every stop
Working on a laptop	Explicit hotspot support and usable speed

Viettel versus MobiFone and VinaPhone

Compare the offers you can actually buy for your trip, rather than a general claim that one operator is best. In our catalogue, the Viettel group is labelled data-only, while the other two local groups include number-enabled products. This describes these offers, not every product the operators sell directly.

A local number is not the same as unrestricted calling. A plan may include incoming service, selected calling bundles or specific SMS allowances. Read the selected offer. Do not assume a number guarantees an OTP from every bank or app.

Daily data and unlimited need different comparisons

A daily allowance gives you a budget for each reset period. Unused data may not roll over; verify the plan rule. An unlimited offer needs a closer look at its speed and fair-use conditions. A lower price is useful only if the service fits your actual use.

For video meetings or hotspot work, ask about the exact plan’s bandwidth and hotspot conditions before ordering. We do not use a 5G label or operator name as proof of a particular download speed.

When a regional plan makes sense

If Vietnam is one stop on a longer Asia trip, compare the regional option against separate country plans. Confirm every country in the coverage list, the total validity and whether the allowance is shared across the trip. A Vietnam-only plan should not be assumed to work in Thailand or Singapore.

Before you buy

Check your phone with our compatibility guide, then read the selected plan’s activation timing. The setup guide explains how to choose the travel line for data without accidentally using home-SIM roaming.

The comparison below reflects current GoWorldeSIM offers. It is not an independent speed test or a comparison of every operator’s direct retail tariff. For a route with demanding coverage needs, tell support where you are travelling before choosing.
